cycling weekends in southern england
heres some info on cycling.
some of my favourite routes in the south east/west of england..
the dorset purbecks > www.dorsetforyou.com/index.jsp?articleid=3916
the somerset levels > www.southsomerset.gov.uk/media/pdf/m/6/WEB_Cycle_low.pdf
the bristol/bath area > visitbath.co.uk/site/media_centre/press_release_cycling
the herefordshire area > www.ciderroute.co.uk
the oxfordshire chilterns > excellent for off roading > www.chilternsaonb.org/site_results.asp?siteCat=11&offset=10
the surrey hills > www.guildford.gov.uk/GuildfordWeb/Tourism/Sport/
the wiltshire downs > www.wiltshire.gov.uk/travelwise-wiltshire-cycleway-guide.htm
isle of wight > www.cyclewight.org.uk/cycling.htm
and normandy france > routeducidre.free.fr
usually you can get hold of the leaflets by emailing the county council tourism department, or google for a PDF version.
also of course, the sustrans who do excellent maps of national cycleways. www.jayonline.co.uk/blog/category/cycling/
these are some of my favourite counties for cycling.. I've just started in this area and Kent... the routes above are best for weekends away and an overnight camp or something similar.. combine the cycle guides with a camra good beer/cider guide and you've got a great weekend spent outdoors!
have fun :)
